Frequently Asked Questions:

1.What do you require to purchase a Texlake puppy?
We believe our puppies should only go to homes where they will be accepted as part of the family. Golden Retrievers thrive on human interaction and with it will bond to you and your family and will not do well being left alone for extended periods of time. If you are looking for a backyard pet Texlake Goldens is not the right fit for you.

2. How do I reserve a puppy?

Once the pregnancy is confirmed we accept reservations for 3 puppies per sex. Other reservations will be accepted but will not be gender specific. Once the puppies are born if there aren't enough puppies of the sex requested you will have the option to get a refund of your deposit. To reserve your puppy a $500 deposit is required to hold your place.

3. Will you ship a puppy?
When possible we prefer for puppies to be picked up. However,  we do have the option available to fly your puppy to you. This will be an additional expense and a kennel and thundershirt are required for your puppy to travel.

4. What kind of food should I feed my puppy?
After extensive research and trial with our own dogs we have found Hill's Science Diet Large Breed Puppy to be the best for our puppies. We recommend you keep them on puppy food for 1 year and then switch to the large breed adult food. Each dog is different and you may choose to pick a comparable quality nutritional value food if you need to make adjustments.

5. Do you breed your dogs back to back or skip breeding cycles?
From our research we have found it best to breed our dogs back to back, as do most veterinarians. This allows our females to do their breeding while younger and helps them recover more easily.

6. I still have questions.
You are welcome to contact us at anytime with any other questions you may have. We believe in open and honest communication with all members of our Texlake Family.
